Carlos and his hookup started to fuck without a condom, which is also called “dipping.” Even if a condom is used later, dipping is not safe.

    • Problem 1: You are still exposed to precum, which can contain HIV and STIs.
    • Problem 2: Very few men can perfectly time their orgasms every time they have sex, so you and your partner might cum before you get the chance to pull out.
Using condoms correctly is important because condoms keep away the bodily fluids that transmit HIV and STIs. Don’t start sex without a condom.

Carlos and his hookup used hand lotion with a condom – not a good idea!

    • Problem 1: Lotion and other oil-based lubricants (such as Vaseline and baby oil) cause latex condoms to break or become less effective.
It’s important to only and always use a water-based or silicone-based lubricant with condoms.
Lastly, Carlos missed another opportunity to discuss his HIV status. And, it’s important to note that alcohol can impair your judgment.
