HIV Myth vs. Fact: Body Fluids

I can get HIV from saliva.

You cannot get HIV from saliva. There are 4 bodily fluids that transmit HIV: semen, blood, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. Thus, you can get HIV from having anal or vaginal sex without using condoms and/or PrEP. You are at risk whether you top or bottom. You can also get HIV from sharing needles and shooting up. HIV may remain inside a needle if it’s been used by an HIV-positive person. If you reuse the needle, you inject HIV directly into your blood stream.
