Having Healthy Sex
Knowing your status is a key part of meeting your health needs and having a healthy sex life. Regular HIV and STI testing helps you catch infections early. That way, you can get treatment more quickly and also reduce the chances of passing something on to your partners.
Some ways to remember to get tested include
-
- Adding reminders / alerts to your calendar or phone
- Going with a partner or friends
- Scheduling tests around special dates or events (for example, your birthday or every season)

We’ve previously discussed other ways of meeting your health needs. These are ways to prevent you from getting HIV and STIs in the first place:
-
- Making decisions about hookups that reduce your risk
- Using condoms every time you have sex
- Taking PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
Which strategies have you been using? Let’s review each one briefly.
